From the book jacket: Father Michael Ryan grew up on the mean streets of Federal City. He was a tough kid until the angels recruited him for the church. Then the war came and Mike Ryan found himself in the South Pacific, putting his courage and moral strength to the test as a Marine Chaplain. Now he’s home, tired, weary and ready to pick up the pieces of his life. But can he ever leave the past truly behind as he meets the challenges of a new kind of ministry? Soon enough the neighborhoods of Federal City are about to get a wake up call from God’s Ex-Marine. You can bet there’ll be a rosary in one hand and a fist in the other. This volume also includes a special guest appearance by TOUGH GUY FOR HIRE, Tommy “KNUCKLES” McNichols!
Written by renowned pulp writer Ron Fortier, this volume showcases an astounding cover and interior illustration by illustrator Dave Flora (Ghost Zero and Doc Monster), along with design by Anthony Schiavino.

woot~! First review. Father Ryan. Wow. Now theres a priest that knows the score of man and yet still attains his virtue as a priest. Its a sad time when holy men must fight, but I know I look forward to rallying behind Father Ryan in his crusade against the criminal element! Rock On Father. Rock on Zero Hour!
"A Cut Above The Rest" Ron Fortier's Father Ryan story, Warrior's Heart, is packaged beautifully as pulp with a moody cover and fantastic illustrations by Dave Flora, but this is not your average pulp tale. With this riveting tale, Fortier gives us a pulp hero for the 21st century who is still right at home in the post WWII landscape of Federal City. The tale begins with a gut wrenching look at the horrors of war seen through the eyes of a man of peace. It's important that we are given this insight as the world Ryan returns to hides many of the same atrocities he thought he'd left on the battlefield. Ryan's struggle to live a normal, peaceful, purposeful life is thrown into chaos when he cannot stand by and watch a the henchmen of a crime boss beat an innocent man. Ryan steps in and his life will never be the same. As he is slowly drawn into the underbelly of what passes for civilization, the tale becomes a battle of ideologies: Love/Hate, Faith/Hopelessness, Strength of... More > arm/Strength of will. The tale is, sadly, incomplete as further Ryan stories will be forthcoming somewhere down the road. But Fortier kicks things off in memorable fashion with "Warrior's Heart". The story is a perfect example of modern day pulp fiction and how the genre is growing and evolving with a bevy of modern day pulpsmiths carrying on the grand tradition with Fortier leading the way. Pick this one up, you won't regret it.< Less
