An absorbing study written with the author's trademark charm and wit, this book manages to be both entertaining and informative. Krippner's masterly control of English makes for a very readable style and turns a book on a potentially dry subject into a page turner. The huge amount of work that has gone into the research makes for a fascinating and insightful study which penetrates to the core of the English Organ tradition. I'm eagerly awaiting Krippner's promised volume on the Art of Improvisation in Anglican Chant.

This is one of the finest books on this subject matter. Krippner writes with authority and in an engaging and humorous manner. Who knew that the history of the organs of Kings College Wimbledon could be so enthralling?
