  A true work of art! Much laughter, many tears, and endless hours of hard work were put into this novel. So please, do yourself a favor, and buy a copy of this book. You won't regret it.

  From the moment I picked up this book, to the moment I closed it for the final time (6 hours later), I was riveted. Never before have I come across a work of such open honesty. I laughed, I cried (many, many times), and I was left drained from both emotions. This book is touching and real, and sheds light into a world that so many of us know little to nothing about. It comes from a place deep inside the author, who I feel I now know on a level I'd have never expected. If you haven't read this book you're missing out on an incredible piece of life-affirming, achingly beautiful fiction. Read it, and it will touch something deep inside of you as it did me. You owe it to yourself to be entranced by The Directive.

  The Directive - Is a superlative piece of fiction, because it is so real. Rosa Fontana moves the reader from a sympathetic observer to an empathetic participant in the real-world of Crohn’s disease. No apologies are necessary for the metaphorical, virtual and real ‘gut’ reaction one has to this story. You will laugh, you may cry, you will be incredulous as to what our bodies can put us through... you will laugh some more, perhaps shed that tear you held back earlier, but most of all through Rosa’s characters you will have your spirit lifted. I had the honor and pleasure of watching the growth of The Directive, chapter by chapter. Rosa is a masterful story teller, I know if you read The Directive you will agree with me. In The Directive, Rosa shares a vision of a group of conditions (Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, and Inflammatory Bowel disease) that are rarely talked about.
