This is a book written by my mother so of course I am partial to it and have given it the highest of ratings. However I do think it is a book that anyone interested in a true story taking place in the 1950's would enjoy. It is a heartwarming story of a young student nurse in training and what it was like in the field of medicine during the 1950's and also the racial differences that existed, for times have changed dramatically in this area. Lots of adventures that took place in school, things that will make you laugh and cry, a romance and friendships. A story of perseverance and dedication. The training that took place in the psychiatric hospital was especially interesting to me. Having a mentally challenged son myself it brought me to tears reading about what the patient's had to endure in these times when not a lot was known in medicine treatments in the 1950's. The place the nurses had to live while training in this hospital for 3 months was also a place that took a lot of... More > endurance to get through! For the people who have read this book already that I am aware of, I have been told that it was a hard to put down book once they began reading it, and in my opinion, that was the best rating of all! This was a story worth telling and recording for history and a treasure to read.< Less
