The powerlessness of children is evident in this brief autobiography of a little girl & her sister, as they are obliged to go where the adults in their lives send them. Foster homes & a home for children, these are their experiences, sometimes heartbreakingly bewildering. Yet in the end, the author finds happiness in marriage, a career, & children, surely a fairy tale ending. The author writes in somewhat of a cool, clinical manner, perhaps to save herself from reliving too intensely some of the past. However, this small book is well worth reading.
