I have totally enjoyed immersing myself in the reading of this novel. Not only did I get attached to all the characters in the story, but I learned a lot of historical facts without pain (I must admit I hated history in school). What I have loved the most was feeling the atmosphere in Egypt, letting the Egyptian way of thinking come in and finally starting to understand where the resiliance of the Egyptian people comes from. Absolutely fascinating to me. Monsieur Magdi, for when is the sequel?... Yours truly

This novel was an excellent read, I learned a great deal of history. It also showed me how Islamic characters in 1798 handle life. An eye opener.

French Kisses on the Nile takes you back in time and reminds you that in our thirst, our greed for power and wealth, humans are capable of unspeakable crimes against each other. And, against that backdrop, the power of love/friendship is a light that can't be extinguished. Indeed it burns despite differences in race, religion, class, and age. So, while the setting is Egypt over 200 hundred years ago, it is also relevant for today's world. I'm also reminded of the importance of resilience to our spirits. The author has done a wonderful job in writing a book that makes you want to keep reading it to the end, and then want more.
