Sep 9, 2009"The Ultimate UK Guide to IT Contracting" In his book, The Guide to IT Contracting, Samuel Blankton informs the reader on how to become an IT Contractor. He gives them information to help determine if they would be a good contractor, he provides instructions on how to setup their business and ensuring they know how to acquire benefits for their employees, how to acquire and maintain their business and even goes so far as to advise the reader on how to handle their money. The book is easy to follow and can be understood by non-IT readers. He has done a wonderful job of writing an in-depth process on how to get an IT business up and running and keeping it that way. He provides the readers with samples and pertinent information for running their business in the UK. He even provides the reader with information on what to watch for to avoid getting hit with penalties. He gives the reader every tidbit of information they need and then some.
Aug 13, 2009"All You Need To Know!" The Guide to IT Contracting by Samuel Blankson covers EVERYTHING that you need to know about this industry. Whether you are thinking of entering the IT contracting field, are new in the business or are an old hand, this book is a vital resource. Blankson, in his usual methodical manner, starts with the basics and builds on this foundation layer by layer. He has done a huge amount of research, and has produced a book that is both anecdotal and technical in content. For example, the section on Office Etiquette is a gem – anyone who has ever worked in an office will be able to identify with his observations! With his effortless, easygoing style, Blankson has written a book that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who has an interest in this topic.
Jul 11, 2009"fantastic, a must read for IT contractors !!" The Guide to IT Contracting has it all !!!! It covers every aspect of entering into the profession of IT contracting but goes so much further. Working from the ground upwards, this book covers entry level assistance and advise while building to specific subjects for advanced IT professionals. The author has left no stone unturned, delving into areas that you may not have considered yourself such as money management, interview techniques, selecting an accountant, and much more. It is written in a comprehensive user friendly manner and is also motivating in its positive approach. I also like that Samuel Blankson has the foresight to address topics such as professional ethics and interpersonal skills. How to conduct yourself, negotiate contracts and build your confidence are all equally important subjects when dealing with potential clients. I highly recommend this book as must as a reference guide to IT contractors.
