This book offers a professional level review of mathematics for the graduate engineer. Topics include trigonometry and complex numbers, series, differential and integral calculus, ordinary differential equations, matrices and linear algebra, vector algebra, Fourier series, and the calculus of variations. Hamilton's principle is introduced as a unifying principle in physics. The emphasis is on understanding and problem solving and not on proofs.

Mar 30, 2010Engineering students and instructors should take note; this book is fantastic. I have two children that are currently studying engineering, and both of them have a copy. This book captures all the mathematics that engineering students will learn. It also includes illustrative engineering problems with complete solutions. This is a must for all undergraduate engineering students, some graduate and for the working engineer whose skill set in engineering mathematics is a bit rusty. To the author, nicely done.
