The Room

BySarah Smith

I woke up in the dark and I can’t remember where I was. Still groggy I tried to get up and felt the satin sheets on my skin. Naked? I thought to myself. I am naked, lying down on this bed. Where am I? I can’t remember at all. I reached over to my side and luckily enough there was indeed a side table and a lamp which I almost sent to the floor. I opened the lamp and it illuminated the room with its small light. I looked around and took note of the room. It was clean, like a hotel room. There is a television and a player with lots of DVDs on top of it. The room was wide enough to occupy a queen bed, two leather chairs, a closet and a bathroom. A hotel room, I concluded. I was inside a hotel room. But how did I end up here? I tried to recall the past day, where I was and what happened. But I can’t remember any of it.
