Now I Am Paper is the voice of an old
tree, returning time and again to a place lost to him, a place
where a little girl used to climb up his gnarled root:
I remember: a gentler sound
The forest rustling in the rain
Leaves were swirling all around
I heard soft footsteps up the lane.
The poem is hand-written on a paper leaves, and colorfully illustrated in watercolor.
