In March 2007 the New Zealand based Earthrace set off to break the round the world speedboat record. 85 days later the Earthrace attempt was abandoned in Spain with multiple 2-meter cracks in her main hull. In her wake were three major storms, an engine rebuild, 6 propeller changes, bankruptcy, and ultimately death on the high seas.
Enclosed is a chronicle by master storyteller Scott Fratcher. A humorous tale of pain, suffering, loss, misery, fortitude and the ability of the crew to gruel along, leg after horrendous leg.
Scott’s colorful writing style takes you to the scene of the action. Thousands read along during the race and laughed at “Did he say cow?” and were enraged by “Just another tourist”.
Come join the Earthrace team for a first hand account of the world record attempt.Put yourself in the drivers seat. Enjoy an up close view of the pit stops and experience first hand the race from the comfort of your easy chair.

"Terrific adventure!" What a great book! I loved every page, and could hardly put it down. The pictures are fantastic and the writing is a clever and fresh depiction of the spirit of adventure these people had while trying to break the circumnavigation record. Highly recommended!
"Earthrace book" A nail biting read that left me on the edge of my seat. I laughed till I cried then I cried till I laughed. What a ride those guys went through. I am so pleased someone took the time to tell the story is such a funny manor.
"Simply incredible adventure!" Scott Fratcher's description of the adventures of Earthrace and her crew are incredible. It was like I was there with him and the crew. All of the emotion and stress of staying ahead of the boat to keep her on schedule was a nailbiting experience. I couldn't put the book down. The rollercoaster of daily highs and lows made me wonder if I had in me what the crew of Earthrace was actually doing. The photos were absolutely stunning. Lance captured the drama of the momment in living color. There were so many but I wish there were more. I can only hope that someday Hollywood will make a movie of Earthrace's adventure. I can see Nicholas Cage or Matt Damon as Scott. Definately a must read. weathergeek
