"Kettlebells for Sport, Strength, and Fitness by Scott Shetler" This is the book I wish were available when I began participating in kettlebell sport three years ago. Mr. Shetler provides an interesting history of the sport, is up-front in disclosing his conceptual training bias, and ties relevant largely empirical anecdotal research as appropriate to bolster his text. Although the book is geared to the beginning sport lifter it also contains advice and protocols for the non-kettlebell sport athlete seeking greater strength, balance, and coordination along with the incredible cardiovascular benefits of kettlebell training. Finally, there are hidden gems in this book that would benefit the advanced lifter. I found one phrase regarding the competition snatch invaluable in refining my own practice. Overall, if kettlebell book ratings were figured in minutes, I would assign a 10 to Mr. Shetler's book - in KB sport-speak, he went the distance. Future directions, perhaps a DVD... "Kettlebells for Sport, Strength, and Fitness by Scott Shetler" Anyone interested in kettlebell training should have this book. Scott displays this thorough knowledge of weight training by providing templates for combining kettlebell work with barbell work in various combinations. The clear color photos and concise exercise descriptions make this a complete resource for the kettlebell enthusiast. Bill Ripley
"Re: Kettlebells for Sport, Strength, and Fitness by Scott Shetler" this book is unlike any out on the market at this present time. many books describe only one type of lifting or sequence, but this book mixes up traditional lifting, powerlifting, and kettlebells. it shows how to train each sport individually or to combine the different types of lifting together to form your own personal routine. i would recommend this book to anyone that has an admiration for fitness. michael house cscs, rkc II,akc
