I am ambivalent about what I sculpt...these foodstuffs, yet I love to carve them since I recognize their significance far beyond what they represent on a store shelf or on someone’s table. Who can know if a bottle of ketchup will exist in 4025AD? Or if a can of soda can stand the test of time as well?
In the nature of Vanitas paintings, I strive for an absolute realism in texture and form from a solid block of stone.
My sculptures are a record of the present; a preservation of the mundanities and morbidities of our culture for references in years to come.< Less
