On September 4, 1995 a feature began appearing on a number of the Forums within the online CompuServe network. This was the comic strip Kevin & Kell about the doings of a very blended family... More > created by the marriage between a rabbit and a wolf. While it was not the first comic strip to be distributed digitally, it was the first to make money off the enterprise as each Forum paid five dollars per week for the strip.
Within months it was on the Internet, and two years later its first book collection “Quest for Content” was printed and made available to fans world-wide. That was followed by “Seen Anything Unusual?” and “Accepting Domestication.” This volume brings those early strips together, along with never-before-seen material. There are author comments sprinkled throughout, all of the early Sunday-format strips, the initial sketches of the strip’s development and “Rudy on WOW!”...ten pages of a spinoff proposal.< Less
How was a world of intelligent, anthropomorphic animals brought into existence? Why would it so closely mirror the human world of the late 20th century? As for that Y2K bug... That had to have been... More > a cover for something else; smart people like computer programmers couldn’t be that short-sighted. Could they?
Kevin and Kell and the rest of the Dewclaw family have no idea that they hold the key to their civilization’s survival. The seemingly innocent birds working at low-paying jobs in their midst are more than they seem, and our favorite mixed-species couple are integral to their plans.
But...plans for what?
The answers come in this, the second Kevin & Kell treasury. It contains the complete run of strips from March 1998 to August 2000, including all of the Sunday-format strips that appeared in Boardwatch Magazine during that time. There’s the teleplay for a proposed Kevin & Kell animated series, a special three-page comic entitled “Carnivore’s Agreement,” the Domestication handbook and more!< Less
When Kell is laid off from Herd Thinners, Inc., it’s up to Kevin to replace the lost income by resurrecting the persona he thought he’d left behind forever: The Iron Rabbit, scourge of... More > the professional wrestling circuit. Despite the changes that age has brought to his body, he still fits into the spandex. ...The very stretchable spandex.
Meanwhile, Kell takes a job at Aby’s Auto Repair, managing both the finances of the shop and her own ingrained prejudice against felines.
Family life goes on as the Dewclaw’s marriage is threatened by a Constitutional amendment. Lindesfarne takes an SAT-prep course, Rudy, Fiona and Bruno accept Rachel the rhinoceros onto their hunting foursome and Coney learns rodent-catching tips from the tigress Rhonda.< Less
The thirteenth collection of “Kevin & Kell” is a lucky one for the Dewclaws as two major events take place. Kevin runs for school board, and his second try at elective office goes... More > much better than the first. The other features Danielle as we follow her entire pregnancy through the delivery of her son Francis and the resulting mystery of just what mammalian species he is.
Other issues come up, such as Elanor’s rehabilitation from a broken hip under Dorothy’s tender care. Lindesfarne discovers a scientific scandal, Kell fills in for a sick Kevin as the Easter bunny and Rudy and Fiona explore the canine networking site MyTree. (A place for scents.) The year concludes with Kell gaining a new perspective of the act of chasing felines up a tree...a much higher perspective.< Less
This seventeenth collection of Kevin & Kell features not one but two Alpha Females: Kell and Lindesfarne. The first half of the 2010 calendar year is dominated by Lindesfarne’s wedding... More > plans and marriage to Fenton, and the second half is concerned with the life-and-death stakes involved with Kell’s ascension to the post of CEO of Herd Thinners, Inc., thereby becoming the Top Predator of the entire world.
The year begins in crisis, involving a devastating flood and a broken leg. Less dire occasions follow, such as Lindesfarne’s college graduation and Rudy’s introduction to Wendell, the Easter Bunny-wanna-be. Dorothy has an attack of conscience, and Kell’s identical cousin Sheila confesses to a long-buried secret.
All of this builds toward the events of the autumn, when Kell realizes all of her family’s dreams and ambitions...at what could be the ultimate price.
You’re invited to be spectators to all the action, along with the strip’s high-level patrons seen here.< Less
Throughout their years of dating, replete with several momentous turns of events, Lindesfarne has always rebuffed Fenton's proposals of marriage. What will it take to finally bring her to respond... More > affirmatively?
In this, the fourteenth collection of "Kevin & Kell", we witness her long-awaited acceptance... with conditions, of course.
As always, life is never dull at the Dewclaw household. While Lindesfarne holds off on an immediate marriage, one of her friends dives right in. Also, Rudy's temporary fill-in as the Easter Bunny becomes a permanent assignment. Kell is introduced to the feline online community Ninth Life by Aby, the school hunting team adds two lions to its roster, Fenton's Tree has a mortgage problem, and school board member Kevin is tasked with choosing textbooks for multiple species. The year ends with Kevin trying to get home for the holidays with no help whatsoever from a certain TV bounty hunter.

Kevin and Kell take a long-awaited second honeymoon in this, the sixteenth collection of their long-running comic. As they return to the site of their initial honeymoon, they discover some alarming... More > changes have taken place that aren’t “just right”.
This was just one even in a momentous year that saw the transformation of the Fennic mansion in the Fennec boarding house. Francis Fennec had his own personal transformation, Dorothy married upwardly (literally, into the treetops) and Lindesfarne and Fenton finally set a date for their honeymoon.
Also taking place was the furor over Aby’s patent application, Kell and Aby providing security for cattle and Kell acting as bait for hit men after her cousin Sheila.
Grandpa Kindle was paroled, and Rudy briefly ran afoul of the law. The year concluded with Rudy experiencing his own version of “A Christmas Story”.
Welcome, and enjoy your stay!< Less
The Circle of Life hits a pothole when the predators go on strike in this, the fifteenth collection of Kevin & Kell. When the negotiators keep devouring each other, it’s up to Kell and her... More > boss R.L. to bring nature back into balance.
The labor disagreement is just one event in this year of unexpected occurrences for the Dewclaw family. Kevin finds himself on the Rabbit Council and Kell deals with both the ghost of her late first husband and her very-much-alive identical cousin Sheila. Rudy takes his driving test, and Coney begins using her considerable powers of carnivorism to protect those in danger. Lindesfarne makes a major discovery: her weekly blog is actually being read by those strange creatures known as “humans.”
Kevin’s mother finds love in Douglas Squirrel, whose past holds additional surprises. Aby faces a takeover threat from R.L., and also a Christmas Eve visit from the ever-eager Kell.< Less

Meanwhile, Rudy takes an artistic summer job, the family visits a "Star Trek" convention, Bruno fights for his place on the school hunting team and a rhino named Rachel enters the cast.
Finally, Lindesfarne embarks on a voyage of discovery, with an assist from Jeff Darlington of "General Protection Fault". This book also features a special treat: a brand new story in which Lindesfarne discovers how her vanishing was seen from the perspective of the humans.< Less
Kevin’s mother Dorothy makes her arrival in this, the twelfth collection of “Kevin & Kell.” While diminutive, any prey species who has successfully thrived in the Wild is not to... More > be taken lightly, as her in-laws soon discover. In honor of her introduction we’ve asked the strip’s readers to send in their favorite “yo momma” jokes... as told in the animal kingdom.
2005 found big changes in store for all of the Dewclaws. Lindesfarne graduated from high school and enrolled at Beige University. Coney spoke her first word and shed her baby bonnet as part of her development into a toddler. Kevin’s Hare-Link ISP found itself on the forefront of municipal wi-fi, and he was also recruited to distribute eggs as the county’s official Easter Bunny.
Kell departed Aby’s Auto Repair to return to Herd Thinners, Inc., and Rudy began taking both dance instruction and driving lessons.
All in all, an eventful year!< Less
