More > community is that accurate results essentially require dual-frequency receivers with a preferred use of carrier phase measurements for precise positioning applications. This way of thinking is primarily motivated by the fact that the ionospheric delay can be eliminated by use of observations on at least two frequencies. However, the European satellite navigation system Galileo will offer one dedicated signal which is superior to all other signals: The broadband signal E5. This signal is expected to have a very low range noise in the cm range as well as the lowest multipath error impact ever observed in the history of satellite navigation which can be as low as a couple of centimeters in benign environments. This offers new possibilities for precise single-frequency positioning, which is topic of this report.< Less
