Uncle Tom's Cabin was first published in serial form in the anti-slavery newspaper, The National Era, during the year of 1851, and in the form of a two volume book the following year.

She certainly achieved her aim. The book became a best seller in the United States, Britain, Europe and Asia. It was translated into over 60 languages.
