More > Parise. Maestro Parise was the director of the Italian military's fencing masters school from 1885 until 1910. The translations contained in this book are of Maestro Parise's 1884 textbook, "Theoretical-Practical Treatise on the Fencing of the Sword and Sabre", his 1897 Chivalric Code, or dueling code, and his 1904 work "Fencing on the Ground", a work which describes specifically how to fence as if preparing for a duel. The work includes an extensive synoptic table of fencing actions, and is copiously illustrated with figures from both the 1884 and 1904 editions of the work. This is an incredibly important text for both the classical fencing movement today, and historically for Italian fencing in general.< Less
