A Sea of Grace Revised By William Baldwin
Paperback: $12.00

This is a different Sea of Grace. In its first form the book was a diary of sorts, a year long collection of poems and photographs. It still is. But pleased with the layout of the recent Sweet... More > Content, I decided to reedit A Sea of Grace. I’m in good company. Walt Whitman did the same with Leaves of Grass. Others have, redone, as well. So I threw out half the photographs and half the poems of Sea of Grace and replaced them with what I thought was better (and usually happier) work. The period now covered is broader than the original and the tone was especially helped by the poems written in the last several months. Trips outside the low country are included. But still the physical and emotional center of the book is my home of McClellanville, S.C. and the surrounding nature preserves. That said, I hope you find here at least a notion of centeredness, a calming, a steadying glimpse of God’s endless Sea of Grace.< Less
Sweet Content, First Edition By William Baldwin
Paperback: $12.00

Sweet Content, First Edition is a diary of sorts: a year of my life measured out in poetry and photographs. And its physical/ emotional center is the fishing village of McClellanville, S.C. where I... More > was born and have spent the bulk of my 72 years. But at times I have traveled. At least once a week I went with friends (and at times I went alone), kayaking, out boarding, and walking in nearby wilderness. Evidence of those trips often shows up in both photographs and poems. This is a gentle book from an apparently gentled man. Aged, anyway. One advantage of these modern times is the ability to count the number of times a word has been used in a manuscript. “Oak” shows up dozens of times. But “Love” may tie it. “God,” “Morning,” and “Sky” are close behind. “Heart,” “Creek,” “Street,” “Walk,” “Pecan,” and “Heron” receive honorable mentions. And “Coffee.” I left out “Coffee.” So here you go. Enjoy. William (Billy) Baldwin McClellanville, S.C. February. 2017< Less

More > existence. I hope what you hold in your hand is no exception. For the past seven years I have attempted to write a poem every morning. I’ve failed, of course, but not by too much. And the poems in a way became my diary. Now for the purpose of publications I’ve gone back and selected from the ones relating to our lives inside of nature and to our lives as spiritual beings. A few date from as far back to the beginnings but most are very recent. I can’t claim they’re presented in the order they were written, but there is a progression of sorts. Appreciators of life and our life in nature, and the Sacred, young or old and in between: I hope this brings you pleasure.< Less

More > existence. I hope what you hold in your hand is no exception. Now for the purpose of publications I’ve gone back and selected from poems relating to birds. As I have done an earlier Audubon inspired book, Talking with Birds, almost all of these poems were written within the last year. I can’t claim they’re presented in the order they were written, but there is a progression of sorts. These days I don’t hunt, and fish only on rare occasions, but weather permitting, I walk or kayak almost every day. The birds have always been there. For the Audubon Christmas Count I was usually a guide—but not an informed one. It is only with retirement that I began to pay an attention of sorts to them. And now the birds are often the high point of the excursion.< Less

A Forester's Son and Other Poems By William Baldwin
Paperback: $11.95
Prints in 3-5 business days
"A Forester’s Son and Other Poems" is a follow up the slightly earlier "Village Lives and Other Poems" and also deals with the poems written in recent years by Wm. Baldwin. ... More > William (or Billy as he’s usually called) is a lifelong resident of the South Carolina Low Country and at 71 a pretty good student of both life and the country. Before retirement he had worked as a commercial fisherman and residential contractor while still finding the time to write dozens of well received books, each a treatment of “the complex beauty, apparent turmoil, and downright mystery” he sees around him. This collection is no exception. He presents the poems here in the order written—"A Forester’s Son" drawing on roughly the second half of those composed. As in "Village Lives" the result is a diary like collection that will take the reader by surprise, make him or her laugh, shake their head, sigh, perhaps cry, for its nothing less than a full, human experience.< Less
