Rereading the Book of Moroni Šinkovec saw a different story there. One that could have unfolded in his own country of Slovenia two and a half millenia ago. He realized he had to question the... More > accuracy of Joseph Smith's endeavors. Did he correctly translate the "sacred text engraved upon plates, which had the appearance of gold," first published in March 1830 as the Book of Mormon? As the original plates are not available and as even most of Smith's manuscript has not survived the tribulations of history, what was left to the author of the Book of Morian was to meticulously interpret the text as he saw fit. And what he saw was not the story of a flight across the seas to the Americas. What he did see was the exodus of an extended old-Slovenian family fleeing their adversaries in Ljubljana, wandering across Slovenian lands to the Adriatic coast, building a ship on the Istrian peninsula from where they sailed towards the "Promised Land", a safe haven promised to them by their God, Lord Terglou.< Less
THE 2020 VISION FOR THE WESTERN BALKANS By Matjaz Sinkovec
Paperback: $19.95

This book represents a number of the author's speeches from 1999 to 2008 on the Euro-Atlantic future of the Western Balkans, the area that Slovenia borders on. The title of the book reflects more... More > hope than naïve belief that the Western Balkans could become just another boring part of Europe, by urging the people and especially the leaders of the Region towards Euro-Atlantic integration. The texts also plead for a common strategy of NATO and the E.U. to bring all the 7 countries of the Western Balkans into both organizations. While initially the author encouraged these countries to decide on their own to start towards Euro-Atlantic integration and even "invented" a sort of a GPS navigation system so they would not veer off the road, he later on came to believe that it was necessary that they all join both NATO and the EU. If they were able to pick and choose between the two organizations this could prove to be both detrimental to the Region as well as to already poor relations between NATO and the EU.< Less

This book, instigated by the unjust sentencing and incarceration of Janez Janša, president of the by far largest opposition party, the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) and former Prime... More > Minister of Slovenia, is a compilation of lives of thirteen political prisoners, Janez Janša, Aung San Suu Kyi, Benazir Bhutto, Carlos Menem, Benigno Aquino Jr., Mahathma Gandhi, Bertrand Russell, Nelson Mandela, Andrei Sakharov, Antonio Gramsci, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Martin Luther King Jr. and Iulia Timoshenko. All the text were compiled from open sources, especially Wikipedia. Governments often say they have no political prisoners, only prisoners held under the normal criminal law. This compilation includes cases where the term “political” refers to a “political trial” and “political imprisonment” of persons who are accused and sentenced for crimes in blatantly unfair trials that have no resemblance to what we have come to accept in democratic societies that proclaim the rule of law as one of their greatest values.< Less
