More > the cruel warfare which followed: “The Creeks owed the land which they possessed to murder and rapine; they mercilessly destroyed all weaker communities, red or white . . . It is described within with clearity how Exeter actually appeared in 1776, what activities were taking place, the rich & the poor homes, Churches & clergy of the day as well as the ship builders & the effects that the Revolutionary War had on the ship building industry. It describes what the 'village' looked like before all the streets were laid and the fact that as long as there was travel on the river not much thought was given to the care of the roads.
