Our goal was to start in Maiori and hike to Sorrento, stopping at a different place each night. We planned our route using the travel guide “Landscapes of Sorrento, Amalfi Coast and Capri:... More > walks and car tours”, published by Sunflower Books. We concluded staying in a different location each night was not possible. The logistics of whether to carry a tent and sleeping bag was an unanswered question. Finally we concluded that staying in one place for the week was practical, economical, and sensible. We studied the maps and routes for a month and realized many of the places we wanted to explore were in and around Sorrento. All buses leave from Sorrento each morning so it made sense that Sorrento would be our base camp. We would get a room for a week and took the bus each morning to our daily hike. A week stay is less expensive and we could leave the majority of our supplies in the room, taking only what we needed each day.< Less
