Biblical Proofs for an Infallible Church and Papacy By Dave Armstrong
eBook (ePub): $2.99

This volume consists entirely of materials posted on my website / blog: "Biblical Evidence for Catholicism": written between 1997 and 2011: several in direct response to Protestant queries... More > or challenges. I’ve revised them in order to clarify the thoughts and to “tighten” up the arguments. My goal is to defend and clarify what Catholics believe with regard to ecclesiology, or the doctrine of the Church (including the papacy), why we do, and to demonstrate that Catholic beliefs are in harmony with Holy Scripture and the doctrines held by the early Church. Protestants deny the infallibility of the Church, and hold that Scripture alone is the only final, infallible authority (denying that characteristic to the Church and apostolic tradition and the papacy). Therefore, if Catholics can show that an infallible Church and papacy are squarely based on Scripture, Protestants would be bound to those beliefs, by their own rule of faith (sola Scriptura). My aim is to demonstrate exactly that.< Less

BIBLICAL TONGUES By Dr. Terry L. Puett

I became interested in the gift of tongues early on in my Christian life. At the time of my salvation, I was reading everything Christian and quasi-Christian that I could get my hands on. I read... More > Jehovah Witnesses’ literature, Children of God literature (a Christian cult back in the seventies), and just about every inexpensive pamphlet and booklet that I could find. Before I made any theological decisions, I did a lot of reading, pro and con. I learned early on as a believer that the final authority was the Word of God. This did not negate the other reading which I did. I just had to be careful to weigh the various arguments from Scripture. I also learned early on that the context of a verse, both literary and historical, as well as the correct understanding of the original languages, was the only way to evaluate proof texts.< Less

"Sola Scriptura" ("Scripture Alone") is considered one of the two “pillars” -- along with "sola fide", or “faith alone” -- of the Protestant... More > Revolt of the sixteenth century. It’s fundamental in Protestant thinking with regard to the all-important issue of Christian authority and determination of true theology. Most Protestant defenders of "Scripture Alone" contend that it is taught in the Bible. I maintain that their alleged prooftexts are invariably logically circular and fatally weak. William Whitaker (1548-1595) was an Anglican apologist. His masterwork was "Disputation on Holy Scripture," published in 1588. William Goode (1801-1868), also an Anglican, wrote "The Divine Rule of Faith and Practice" in 1842. These two works are considered by many Protestants to be the best defenses of "sola Scriptura" ever penned. I contend that they fail in their task, and that if indisputable biblical evidences for the position can’t be found, it collapses in a heap of self-contradiction.< Less
