More > the Inter-City Fairs Cup the following season, albeit the hand of fate would deny the club that opportunity. First in the Scottish League were Celtic, who were also European Champions, and second were Rangers, runners-up in the Cup Winners Cup Final, so to finish third behind two European finalists was a tremendous achievement. Celtic played 19 domestic cup matches that season, and won 18 of them. The only one they didn't win first time round was against Clyde, but the Bully Wee, minus Harry Hood, couldn't quite match Celtic in the replay.
