This volume consists of page images of a manuscript found in the Wagner College Archives. The author is history professor David Budlong Tyler, a published and respected naval historian who joined the... More > Wagner College faculty in 1939 and, according to his obituary, taught here for 45 years. This manuscript, an attempt at a comprehensive history of Wagner College covering its first century of existence, was created for the college’s centennial celebration. It is clearly a very early draft; it contains numerous factual errors that undoubtedly would have been corrected prior to its publication, had it been finished. We are making it available to researchers through our Wagner College History online bookstore because it is, in itself, a historic relic. Of particular value are those portions of the manuscript that reflect Professor Tyler’s first-hand knowledge of certain episodes in the college’s history. We encourage researchers to read this manuscript with a critical but appreciative eye.< Less
