More > Unfortunately, by 9 months, it was obvious her motor skills were delayed. After an MRI, Ellie was diagnosed as having periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), caused by a stroke in utero or shortly after birth. This damaged the white matter of her brain, affecting muscle control. As a result, Ellie has cerebral palsy and needs lots of special care, including weekly therapies. Because of this, her family moved to Canada to be by Momma’s extended family, and for the universal healthcare.
