Diary written by August Schulz who resided in McPherson County, Kansas. The diary describes the work and events that took place on the family farm in Canton Township, McPherson County. Schulz and his... More > wife Louisa were born in Germany, according to the 1880 U. S. census. Augustus's age was listed as 54 and Louisa was 58. The first two pages of content labeled 1872 and 1873 are in German. They have four children, The two girls were Agnes 24 years old and Ottilie age 16. The two boys were Alexander 23 and Hugo 20. In 1880 they were all living at home. Schulz provides detail about the crops he is planting and several entries describe planting several hundred trees. The diary also mentions establishing land claims for the older children. Agnes married Emmett Satterlee and passed away in 1888, leaving three small children. Ottilie married Alonzo Oldfield and passed away in 1887. Agnes is buried beside her mother in the Jones cemetery and August is buried beside his son Alex in the Canton cemetery. barnesgen@cox.net< Less

More > techniques compared with control at Agricultural Research Station, Pakistan. Randomize Complete Block Design was used for experiments with 3 replications. For intercropping, the coriander, Coriandrum sativum; for chemicals control, the lorsban; for neem seeds extract and oil, Azadirchata indica and for biological control, stingless wasp, Trichogramma chilonis Ishii were used. The DBM density increased with increased of temperature. No parasitism was found until 2nd week, however, the highest was during 7th week. During parasitization, DBM population density was 23.8±2.6, mummies and adult parasitoids were 3.1±1.4 and mean parasitism was 13.0±1.7. It is recommended that A. indica seeds extract can be used by farmers against DBM in order to get the highest yield and the lowest infestation.< Less
