Semantic Digital Libraries - Improving Usability of Information Discovery with Semantic and Social Services By Sebastian Ryszard Kruk
Hardcover: $66.15
Prints in 3-5 business days
This book is based on Sebastian's PhD thesis. He reviews architectures, abstract models, metadata standards and various technologies for building digital library management systems. He derives... More > requirements for advanced digital libraries and proposes an architecture model and a set of ontologies for semantic digital libraries. This book presents information discovery services using the semantic and social technologies, and the prototype implementation of a semantic digital library that answers these requirements. The claim presented in this book is that the semantic and social technologies applied a digital library management system delivers more efficient information discovery solutions, while the library users become more satisfied and can remember more information from what they have learned when using the library. ** This is the lite version of the book without appendix. Volume #32 of "The IT Revolution in Architecture", this book dedicated to François Roche and his group, raises questions of great importance for the development of architecture. What... More > role can new material technologies have in a process in which the same materials have incorporated growing shares of active behaviors? For example, will they be self-cleaning, un-polluting, self-changing? To what extent will the various components of the buildings be increasingly “interconnected” and able to simulate processes typical of living systems, such as transpiration, dilation, growth, life, and death? Can we begin to speak of living “systems” in architecture? Antonino Di Raimo, PhD works with issues relating to IT and cognition, ecology, and the body. He serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Polis University, Tirana. Founder and editor of the book series before with Birkhäuser and Testo&Immagine and now with Edilstampa, is Antonino Saggio. www.arc1.Uniroma1.it/Saggio/IT/< Less

STUDIES ON DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF 10BIT 50Ms/Sec PIPELINED ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERTER By Prasad Rao Perala

All electrical signals in nature are analog and since most of the signal processing is done in the digital domain, Analog to Digital (ADC) and Digital to Analog (DAC) converters have become a... More > necessity. Flash ADC makes all bit decisions in a single go while Successive approximation ADC makes single bit decision at a time. Flash ADCs are faster but area increases exponentially with bit length while successive approximation ADC is slow and occupies less area. Between these two extremes, many other architectures exist, deciding a fixed number of bits at a time such as pipeline and multistep ADCs. They balance circuit complexity and speed. For medium speed and with high resolution, pipeline ADCs are promising. Although many pipelined ADC architectures are discussed in literature, the number of bits/stage was always seen to be a designer’s choice.< Less
