The concept of the modern city presented a model that intended to introduce regularity into the inhabitant’s lifestyle, it was a framework that created barriers instead of thresholds. Its... More > product, a typical structure of built form versus an exterior composed of access networks and public spaces, does not encourage personal exploration or spaces for societal relief. They generate monotonous structures that promote monotonous one-lined lifestyles with little room for the in-between or time spaces for states of change. Humanities nomadic nature has overpowered this city model, and disruptions in a perfect grid have been inevitable. This architectural intervention intends to celebrate human change and nomadism by creating series of continuities that transport inhabitants through thresholds that blur the boundaries between exterior/interior and public/private. Binary conditions are eliminated and the result is a gradient of spaces that allow for a wide range of interpretation and a non-stationary lifestyle.< Less

Dissolving the disconnect between the physical environment and information technology systems can be achieved by devising architectural elements and treatment protocols which would fuse both entities together, creating a more holistic, digitally integrated setting in which to deliver care. The fusion of digital modalities with architectural elements in the emergency care environment could remediate problems relevant to contemporary EDs, including overcrowding, staffing issues, and inability to accommodate for mass casualty event volumetric surges, by improving the overall throughput of the facility. The final booklet must be trimmed 1/2" on the top and bottom to be at the final size.< Less

A fabricated landscape of cones finds its origins in the ambient sounds of New Orleans. This site specific installation emphasizes the transformation of invisible sound bands and frequencies into... More > an atmosphere landscape made of material and color. The sculptural topography, intricately fabricated from individual pieces, is made of 300 CNC milled acrylic plates that are folded to create cylindrical cells snapped together with 10,000 rivets. Each cell, unique in diameter and height, creates an intriguing visual surface reminiscent of geological or biological surfaces. Sounds augment the dimension of public space, linking geography with human activity. Our proposal reinterprets the traditional relationship of sound defined by physical space. Rather, the installation offers new spatial possibilities as sound acts as a generator for transforming matter into a complex spatial topography otherwise invisible to the naked eye.< Less
