The Ventures are recognized as the most popular and successful instrumental rock and roll band in the world. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, the 50th anniversary of... More > the band's formation by Don Wilson and Bob Bogle. This book offers my suggestions for what I consider to be an "essential albums collection" of The Ventures' music. I limited the listings to albums (LPs, EPs, and CDs) released in the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom that would provide a reasonably complete library of the almost 1,200 different songs recorded by The Ventures during their 55 years of existence to date (1959 to 2014). If you have all of these albums, you'll have virtually the entire recorded and officially-released library of The Ventures' music. More > data. Michael Mandberg wrote software that parses the entirety of the English-language Wikipedia database and programmatically lays out nearly 7500 volumes, complete with covers, and then uploads them to Lulu.com for print-on-demand. Print Wikipedia draws attention to the sheer size of the encyclopedia's content and the impossibility of rendering Wikipedia as a material object in fixed form: Once a volume is printed it is already out of date. It is also a work of found poetry built on what is likely the largest appropriation ever made. As we become increasingly more dependent on information and source material on the Internet today, Mandiberg explores the accessibility of its vastness.< Less

The B&C Discography: 1968 to 1975 By Mark Jones
Paperback: $21.56 (excl. taxes)

B&C started life as a distribution company, which was set up as a sister company to Island. Island's early success led B&C's owner, Lee Gopthal, to start releasing records in his own right.... More > However, B&C's main strategy was based on licensing records rather than signing artists in its own right and many of B&C's labels concentrated on singles and budget compilation albums – strategies that set the seeds of the company's own destruction. This book includes comprehensive discographies covering the Action, Stable, B&C, Charisma, Pegasus, Peg, People, Mooncrest, Dragon, Sussex and Seven Sun labels.< Less
