Buncombe (1791), Yancey (1833), Caldwell (1841), and Mitchell (1861) will all take pieces (along with other adjoining counties) except Buncombe which takes the largest portion of Burke’s western extremity. Burke County has a very nice (above average) collection of records, which will certainly become an asset in researching genealogy, historical migration routes, and other infrastructure history. This book contains the last two of the five boxes for this county. Box 4 contains records from (1840-1897) and one box of nothing but undated records.
