These criteria goes beyond the traditional derivative works framework established in national copyright laws, and international copyright conventions. However, the GPL license as a copyright license has to be interpreted by Judges of different jurisdictions and different legal traditions. What is the relation between copyleft and derivative works? Should software be treated as literary works? Should copyright law be updated? How do we apply linking exceptions? Are the GPL prescriptions proportional?
