Georg Emig took the oath of allegiance upon his arrival. Most of the passengers were from the Palatine region or Rhine Valley. Georg built a grist mill on Tohickon Creek in Bucks County outside of Philadelphia. Georg passed the mill down to his son Henry when he died. Henry Emig, son of Henry who was the son of Georg, was also a miller, inherited his father’s grist and saw mill on Tohickon Creek in Bucks County.< Less

Added to the book were those recipes that we didn’t have often (and sometimes never had) but because of historical reasons, we wanted to keep. I remember my dad making pancakes and shipwreck, and although we make pancakes the same way, we only had shipwreck a time or two. But still I wanted to record these for posterity. The first time I dined with Mary’s family, Dee had her famous jell-o; we had to add the recipe. The book grew until it contained many but not all of our recipes. We didn’t bother with the infrequent and we still try things now and again that aren’t in the book. We tried to re-create recipes, such as my grandmother’s cinnamon rolls that shouldn’t be lost.< Less
