My Eagle project is to raise awareness about emergency weather preparedness for the citizens of Lake County, Florida. The idea for my Eagle Scout project began when I was finishing up my Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge. I contacted Jerry Smith, executive director of Lake County’s Emergency Management staff to learn about emergency preparedness. In my interview with Mr. Smith, he explained that despite Florida’s tendencies toward hurricanes, the people are not sufficiently prepared. This sparked an idea for my Eagle Scout Project - an Emergency Preparedness Awareness Campaign.
