What weighs more: 1 kg of iron or 1 kg of feathers? By Massimiliano Sassoli de Bianchi
eBook (PDF): $8.32

Once, when I was still a child, my father asked me: “Which weighs more: 1 kilo of iron or 1 kilo of feathers?” I remember that sure of myself I answered him quickly: “Surely 1 kilo... More > of iron weighs more, dad, because metal things, like the armor of medieval knights, are very heavy, while the feathers that decorate birds’ wings are very light”. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was when I heard him say: “No my son, that’s wrong: they weigh the same, because 1 kilo is always 1 kilo!” Maybe because of the evening trick questions from my dad, when I grew up I decided to become a physicist, and to my big surprise I discovered that I was right when I was a child. Indeed: On the Earth, even if only by a little, 1 kilo of iron weighs more than 1 kilo of feathers! Don’t worry, the sawdust that I have in my head has not caught on fire! But I hope that I have made you curious and that now you will want to come hunting with me for this strange and heavy mistake.< Less

Jim Templeton's poetry is in a constant fluid state, he has been known to change all but the title of a poem at some performances, insisting that he is inspired as much by his surroundings and... More > audience as he is by any sequential language he may have prepared earlier. So these poems are a mix of transcripts from various bootleg recordings of performances in the eighties and nineties, and a few more recent readings in London and New York. Jim famously refuses to write down his verse. In 1999, a napkin used by him to write down the first few verses of "Nahuatl Toroid" sold on Ebay.Com for over £200. Rumour has it that the napkin was bought by the late Marlon Brando who promptly burned the napkin "to preserve the myth".< Less

"Connective tissue" is a fibrous and most diverse tissue. It is one of the four traditional classes of tissues (the others being epithelial, muscle and nervous tissue). Connective Tissue... More > (CT) is found throughout the body. In fact the whole framework of the skeleton and the different specialized connective tissues from the crown of the head to the toes determine the form of the body and act as an entity. CT has 3 main components: cells, fibers, and extracellular matrix, all embedded in the body fluids. Fibroblasts are the cells responsible for the production of connective tissue. The interaction of the fibers, the extracellular matrix and the water, together, form the pliable connective tissue as a whole. Connective tissue makes up a variety of physical structures including tendons and the connective framework of fibers in muscles, capsules and ligaments around joints, cartilage, bone, adipose tissue, blood and lymphatic tissue.< Less

A poetry book containing poems starting from when I was 13 to my present age of 22. Lines from the soul. Written off the head, some from a dairy, some from Facebook, some from Blogspot, some from... More > Tumblr. These are my memories, and my fleeting thoughts going through a life of restless solitude in the city I was born and raised in - Elizabeth City, NC. All profit made goes to keeping me and my daughter fed, as well as any other simple necessity, while I practice the way of the Genuine Sannyasin. (6 bucks each book profit). "Gives a mesmerizing, yet haunting account at times, inside the mind of Elizabeth City, NC's poet Jesse Heichert. We genuinely enjoy the notion we have a good writer here, one that can use language to portray emotion almost fluidly. Pick it up one morning with a coffee, or on a rainy afternoon. You'll dissolve right in it. Comes with a surprise at the end of the book as well!" - Positive Realism< Less
