In WWII, Paul Garber created a kite that became an influential tool in training gunners to shoot down enemy war planes. Why kites? Why were kites critical to resisting Nazi and Imperial Japanese control? These stories and this project sought answers to our team's questions about WWII.< Less

Although every poem is inspired by George Ella Lyon’s original “Where I’m From” poem, you will find that each poem has a unique voice and a distinct set of experiences to reference. During this first project, we built a community of writers and peer editors as we went through multiple drafts of our “Where I’m From” poems before publication.
