Every Monday—almost without fail—you will find me at my desk writing about the ministry events of the weekend or a pressing matter on the larger social landscape. It is a way that I... More > illumine the rhythms of Central as an instrument of grace for the church and the world. It is a joyful task for me. A regular spiritual discipline for me is lectio divina, a prayerful reading of Scripture. I follow the Revised Common Lectionary in this practice, and these wide-ranging texts guide my praise, confession, intercession, and petitions. Thus the four readings from Hebrew Bible, Psalter, Epistle, and Gospel ground my engagement in study and prayer. Over the past several years, it has been my practice (with some exceptions) to select one of these texts for my weekly blog, Trinitarian Soundings—so named because I believe that the heart of our faith as Christians is confession of God as Triune. Discerning how we participate in the trinitarian history of God is my great passion as a theologian.< Less

My teshuva to the Torah and Judaism is the greatest miracle I (in the way I think) can say I know so far. About the year 1991, I received a Bible from a U.S. Alaskan-born Jehovah's Witness in The... More > Hague, The Netherlands. In the mid 1990s I read the English translation of the Holy Bible, from Genesis to Revelation and questioned what man has been doing with what God said. The Church condemned the images that aided the religious practice of some of our people past, yet a lot of images decorated the churches, and tried to figure out what those images were meant for. Seeing great contradictions in the way I lived; I sought to learn more, until I was able to find reasons to separate the 'Old' from the 'New' Testament(s). It all started earlier.< Less

More > advance a Marxist concept of “transgender liberation.” Sold by hundreds of thousands of copies, passed hand-to-hand inside prisons, the novel has been translated into Chinese, Dutch, German, Italian, Slovenian, Turkish, and Hebrew--with earnings from that edition going to ASWAT Palestinian Gay Women--and won the 1994 American Library Association Stonewall Book Award and 1994 Lambda Literary Award. Feinberg said in hir Author’s Note to the 2003 edition: "Like my own life, this novel defies easy classification. If you found Stone Butch Blues in a bookstore or library, what category was it in? Like the germinal novel The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe/John Hall, this is a lesbian novel and a transgender novel—making ‘trans’ genre a verb, as well as an adjective."< Less

This is not an examination of the quality or quantity of your faith. It is an examination of the existence of your faith. There are only two responses to this examination of self. Yes, I am in the... More > faith or no, I am not in the faith. If the answer is yes, then you got there by seeking the Lord. You did not pray for faith, you sought God and faith came. If the answer is no, you will not get in the faith by praying for faith. You will only get in the faith by seeking God. We will never get more faith by seeking more faith. When I began this Bible study, my goal was simple. I was in the faith but I really felt I needed more faith. What I really needed was to learn more about the faith I had. I learned that faith has the capacity to be in one accord with God. If we seek God and His ways, we will find that we have all the faith we need. The purpose of seeking God is so that we will know what we can be in accord with. The chapters in this book are based on the great faith chapter in the Bible, Hebrews 11.< Less

More > contemporary definition does not fit logically with the biblical texts that reference the term. Consider Mark 1:14, Galatians 3:8, Hebrews 3:16-4:2, Luke 3:18 & 9:6. ► If Jesus did not speak overtly regarding His intent to die sacrificially until the very end of His earthly ministry, what “gospel” did He preach at the start of His ministry? ► What “gospel” first came to Abraham and was also preached in the days of Moses? ► What “gospel” was known by John the Baptist before he baptized Jesus? ► What “gospel” was preached by Jesus’ disciples prior to knowing that their Rabbi would go to the cross? This study not only elucidates the factors that contributed to the loss of the biblical definition of the term "gospel," but also restores its meaning and offers a first century perspective of Hebraic Spirituality.< Less

(Lance Reynard) I was curious about studying anything with a pentagram/or symbol on it, since childhood, and became fascinated and extremely confused by the thousands of seemingly "foreign" characters that are the basis of mankind's history. I became so burdening and annoying to flip from one book to the next, I decided to make things easier by creating some flash cards that I could use easily for different references I was looking for. They became very handy. Twenty years later I thought someone else might like to see them and set the first deck design for the public in 1999. Since their release the reasons people have purchased them are as follows: The locations and colors of candles. The creation of talismans. They can be used to learn Hebrew/Versus English alphabet.Used to understand temple powers attained.< Less
