This is the first book edited by various people of the Assoc.Water and Environmental Modeling. The main objective of this book was to collect the advancements in hydrologic modeling. This book... More > comprises one special article,3 related articles,1 technical note and 1 observations. The special article is a piece written by the great scientist H.L.Penman who has invented the famous law of Penman’s Evapotranspiration Equation. The selected paper deals with role of vegetation on meteorology, soil mechanics and hydrology. The paper explain the relationships which are now often used in various agricultural designs. The technical note deals with the popular hydrologic models available in the market .This will help many modelers to select models according to their requirements. The observation deals with the application of artificial neural network to estimate Reynolds number from dispersion number and creating a relationship between them and hydraulic gradient within a horizontal roughing filter.< Less

"Letters in applied hydrology" is no conventional textbook comprising lengthy chapters. Rather it explores UK applied hydrology – and its wider relevance to science and society... More > – through 76 chosen topics. Each is dealt with on a single page, with illustrations and features that seek to present ideas and methods memorably. The book is written principally for those with hydrology or hydrologist in their job description who, conscious of the critical role that water plays in our world, want to do much more than “point and click”. It may also help researchers in mid-career to appraise whether real-world problem-solving might sometimes be more fulfilling than scientific enquiry alone.< Less

HETEROGENEITY IN THE URBAN LANDSCAPE: IMPACTS ON HYDROLOGIC PROCESSES AND NITROGEN POLLUTION By Monica Lipscomb Smith
eBook (PDF): $0.00
This research evaluated the usefulness of the commonly used National Land Cover Database for deriving urban hydrologic parameters, defined metrics linking suburban landscape structure and nitrogen... More > fluxes, and determined variance of hydrologic properties of residential lawns according to social and physical factors. Results suggested that the NLCD is insufficient for urban hydrologic studies due to biases and variability of these datasets. Nitrate concentrations of suburban streams were best characterized by watershed infrastructure. Septic-managed watersheds’ stream nitrate correlated with population density, septic location, and presence of wetlands. Reduced saturated infiltration rates in residential lawns caused only marginal differences in overland flow when compared to regional rain records. Of the factors assessed in this dissertation, waste management infrastructure was defined as the most critical feature explaining nitrate dynamics in the urban landscape.< Less

Data for Improved Water Management in Colorado’s Arkansas River Basin By Timothy Gates
Paperback: $30.00
Prints in 3-5 business days
Like other river basins in the semi-arid Western United States, pressures on the critical water resources of the Arkansas River Basin in Colorado are mounting. An extensive endeavor to monitor and... More > describe major hydrological and water quality features of the basin is reported and discussed herein. Focusing on the irrigated stream-aquifer system within the valley alluvium, the aim is to provide data both for an assessment of current conditions and to support models and decision-making for improved management of the Arkansas River Basin’s water resources. The study spans 13 years and covers regions that are representative of both the intermountain and lower valley portions of the basin. Flows, water levels, and solute concentrations and loads, along with characteristics that affect them, are addressed.< Less
