It had all the ingredients of a classic whodunnit. Beautiful young woman, former beauty queen, marries the man of her dreams, the great-grandson of Lord Baden-Powell, scouting pioneer. Together they... More > produce three beautiful daughters. Then it all went horribly wrong. One morning, she left for her early morning walk and never came home. Her husband phoned the police. He said it was not like her. Ten days later, a lone kayaker found her, lying on her side on the steep, muddy bank of Kholo Creek where it adjoined the Brisbane River; her body and the muddy river swollen from the heavy April rains. Pamela Lillian Valemont, the world's first forensic numerological criminal profiler, details the amazing number correlations between the victim, the perpetrator and the third person involved in the love triangle that was to have such dire consequences for all three involved. Sweet Content, First Edition By William Baldwin

Sweet Content, First Edition is a diary of sorts: a year of my life measured out in poetry and photographs. And its physical/ emotional center is the fishing village of McClellanville, S.C. where I... More > was born and have spent the bulk of my 72 years. But at times I have traveled. At least once a week I went with friends (and at times I went alone), kayaking, out boarding, and walking in nearby wilderness. Evidence of those trips often shows up in both photographs and poems. This is a gentle book from an apparently gentled man. Aged, anyway. One advantage of these modern times is the ability to count the number of times a word has been used in a manuscript. “Oak” shows up dozens of times. But “Love” may tie it. “God,” “Morning,” and “Sky” are close behind. “Heart,” “Creek,” “Street,” “Walk,” “Pecan,” and “Heron” receive honorable mentions. And “Coffee.” I left out “Coffee.” So here you go. Enjoy. William (Billy) Baldwin McClellanville, S.C. February. 2017< Less

These Birds of America By William Baldwin

As I’ve said a time or two before: over the years I’ve written many well received books, each in its way a treatment of the complex beauty, apparent turmoil, and downright mystery of our... More > existence. I hope what you hold in your hand is no exception. Now for the purpose of publications I’ve gone back and selected from poems relating to birds. As I have done an earlier Audubon inspired book, Talking with Birds, almost all of these poems were written within the last year. I can’t claim they’re presented in the order they were written, but there is a progression of sorts. These days I don’t hunt, and fish only on rare occasions, but weather permitting, I walk or kayak almost every day. The birds have always been there. For the Audubon Christmas Count I was usually a guide—but not an informed one. It is only with retirement that I began to pay an attention of sorts to them. And now the birds are often the high point of the excursion.< Less
