This book chronicles the days ‘Abdu’l-Bahá spent in Minnesota in 1912. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Bahá’u’lláh’s eldest son and appointed... More > successor, led the Faith after His Father’s passing. He gave the perfect example of how to live according to the Bahá’í teachings. Bahá'ís believe that Bahá’u’lláh is the Messenger of God for this day. His teachings are the basis of the Bahá’í Faith, whose primary aim is the unity of mankind. Throughout history, God has revealed Himself to humanity through a series of divine Messengers, whose teachings guide and educate us and provide the basis for the advancement of human society. These Messengers have included Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad. Their religions come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from God. Bahá'u'lláh said, “The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens,” and that, as foretold in all the sacred scriptures of the past, now is the time for humanity to live in unity.< Less

The paintings in this book were inspired by my personal investigations into the writings of the major religions. Although the social teachings of each religion change in accordance with an ever... More > advancing world society, the spiritual messages remain the same. The kinship between the spiritual teachings of each religion reflects the oneness of religion, oneness of humanity and oneness of God. I began creating this book in 1991, it is now 2012. I initially thought it would be a relatively simple task to select similar writings from diverse religions that spoke to the content of each of my paintings. Yet, each attempt at finishing this book required starting from scratch; re-reading the Qur’an, Dhammapda, Holy Scriptures, Bhagavad Gita, and Bahá’i Writings. With each new reading I gradually familiarized myself with the “voice” of each Messenger–Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Mohammed, and Bahá'u'lláh–and in so doing, the content of the messages and the intent in the words gradually took on new meaning.< Less
