The book has four parts. The first is a review of the organization of the nervous system, emphasizing the cranial nerves. The second is a summary of the neuroanatomical pathways with accompanying diagrams. The third summarizes the vasculature of the CNS, supplemented by illustrations of the arteries and veins with angiograms placed opposite the illustrations. The fourth is an atlas of the human brain and spinal cord with CT and MRI scans placed opposite the brain sections.
With this edition, Basic Human Neuroanatomy becomes essentially an electronic book, although it remains available in print. This allows most of the figures to be in color, and the book to be loaded onto any device that can display a PDF file. An associated website features additional learning material.< Less

These have come about not by accident, nor by design, but through the course of events that engulfed me directly after suffering spinal damage,... More > and the diagnoses confirmed by MRI scans in 2005 that literally pushed me into the abyss, and for the ensuing two/three years, into the void.
This was my escape route during extremely difficult times.
I share this first part with you, as an example of daily struggle with spinal injury, strong and newly unleashed medication, uncertainty, and naturally, the resultant depression. This is an insight into the effects of, not only diagnoses, but of said drugs, surgery, therapy, root nerve blocks, the effect on the mind, life: from a family perspective; the gradual shutting-down of a social life; and sacrifices needed to survive, and in part II and III (seperate volumes), the acceptance and eventual hope, which I strongly wish to convey to readers.
