The Thinking Drummer: Energy & Motion By Michael Bettine
eBook (PDF): $9.99
The Thinking Drummer: Energy & Motion, is a 62-page book that looks at the energy of what we play in rock style drumming. While there are many great drum books out there, they tend to present... More > exercises with little explanation behind those exercises. This book investigates how we, as drummers, move energy through time and space. The book is meant to get drummers thinking about what they play and presents various concepts to creatively expand your ideas & abilities. While the book starts out very basic, it takes a completely different perspective on those basic ideas and progresses through more advanced concepts. The ideas presented are designed to be applied to what you are already playing. Besides looking at Energy & Motion, there are exercises for control, and alternative ideas that are designed to open up your creativity. The book is recommended for intermediate to advanced drummers.< Less
Deep water motion manual By Marisa Cecchetti

Marisa Cecchetti, who is graduated in Physics and passionate in dance and freediving, since 2014 has done research on body movement in water at different depths at the deepest pool in the world, the... More > Y-40 in Montegrotto Terme (PD), and the sea. From these searches she has encountered some problems during the movements that have been studied and solved to perform particular choreographies either as solo both in pairs. The results are documented by video and images that have been rendered charming by the water that offers different physical laws than a dance floor and let the movement in a fluid and harmonious dance totally in touch with nature, with the knowledge and control of the limit time of breathing and with the acrobatic power facilitated by the almost absence of gravity. The book describes the evolution of this research highlighting the power that water can give to the body mass of a person but also to any object with which to interact during the choreography.< Less

Self-Organising Locally Interpolating Maps in Control Engineering By Helge Hülsen
Paperback: $9.66
Prints in 3-5 business days
The work is motivated by problems during automated motion control of mobile microrobots. For a high positioning accuracy a data-based learning controller model is required since a microrobot's motion... More > behaviour is difficult to model and since the model parameters even change with time. The approach of the Self-Organising Locally Interpolating Map (SOLIM) includes a new method that continuously and interpretably maps from a grid of input support vectors, e.g. a robot's velocity, to a grid of output support vectors, e.g. corresponding control commands. Moreover, a learning algorithm has been developed, which iteratively adapts the output support vectors such that the SOLIM map represents an inverse model of the unknown system to be controlled. The most important properties of the SOLIM approach have been proven in simulations and during position control of mobile micro-robots.< Less

Robotics: Mechanics, Mathematical Analysis and Control By Rami Khalil
eBook (PDF): $6.99

This book provides a mathematical introduction to the mechanics and control of robots that can be modeled as kinematic chains. Topics covered include the concept of a robot’s configuration... More > space and degrees of freedom, static grasp analysis, the description of rigid body motions, kinematics of open and closed chain robots, dynamics of open chain robots, and the basics of robot control. The emphasis is not on the latest research trends and technological innovations in robotics, but on learning the fundamental concepts and core principles that underlie robotics as a scientific discipline. The intent is to help the reader acquire a unified set of analytic tools for the modeling and control of robots, together with a reliable physical intuition that recognizes the unique and interdisciplinary nature of robotics.< Less
A Comprehensible Guiode to Servo Motor Sizing By Wilfried Voss
Paperback: $19.95
Prints in 3-5 business days
The Importance of servo motor sizing should not be underestimated. Proper motor sizing will not only result in significant cost savings by saving energy, reducing purchasing and operating costs,... More > reducing downtime, etc.; it also helps the engineer to design better motion control systems. However, the knowledge of mechanical systems and their influence on motor speed, inertia and torque requirements seems to decline in a world where modern technology aspects, such as tuning and programming, seem to be the main focus. The motor sizing process involves a number of mathematical equations, which are most certainly documented, but not necessarily with the motor sizing process in mind. This book focuses primarily on servo motor sizing and it documents in detail the inertia and torque calculations of standard mechanical components and the motor selection process.< Less
