Similarly, Life Academy ninth graders documented their neighborhoods. Our Oakland is not a definitive picture of life on the east side. Students were guided to look at things they want to change, so this compilation is sometimes sad. The same students who have documented the problems in their community also love it and would hate for this work to condemn “The Town.” It is only by looking closely and listening to the residents of the place they love that any change will be possible.< Less
