Bouguereau: 135 Masterpieces By Ann Kannings
eBook (ePub): $2.99
William Adolphe Bouguereau was a follower of classical art and had no wish for everything like novelty or the avant-garde. His sense of idealism was his guiding principle, regarding the ugly as... More > worthless for representation. He populated his lush fantasy world with an idealized array of mythological figures, angels, women and children. A consummate craftsman and master of human anatomy, he utilized a delicate palette and glorious light to sensitively capture nuances of personality and mood, vibrantly bringing the soul and spirit of his subjects to life. Bouguereau remained a hard supporter of the academic training system at a time when it was criticized for stifling originality and nurturing mediocrity. This hostility was further heightened by the perceived association of academic painting with the bourgeois values that had resulted in world war. However, recent more objective assessments have reinstated Bouguereau as an important 19th-century painter.< Less

Old Westminster Hymnal, coil bound By Richard Terry
Paperback: $25.00
Prints in 3-5 business days
From the preface: This Hymnal is issued with the sanction of the Archbishops and Bishops of the provinces of Westminster, Birmingham and Liverpool. The Hymns ... number 250. They have been in part... More > selected and in part composed by Mr R R Terry, Mus.D., Organist and Choirmaster of Westminster Cathedral, who has also written and edited the harmonies. This eminent musician has here presented the public with a work of great originality and distinction, for which he is entitled to the thanks of the Catholic Church in English-speaking countries. The Hymns are what we have been accustomed to, but the musical setting is, on the whole, far more scientific and satisfying than anything that has hiterto appeared. There can be no doubt that it will conduce very much to the devotion and decorum of extra-liturgical worship and popular services to have one common manual of Hymns, which at once offers a suitable variety and prevents the undesirable introduction of amateur efforts and unedifying novelties.< Less
Beyond Prophecy; A Practical Guide To Rune Magick By Asbjörn Torvol
Paperback: $46.13
Prints in 3-5 business days
Beyond Prophecy, is perhaps one of my most exciting tomes to date. Working with the Norse/Viking system has been a great joy for me, but I always felt like the Runes needed a space of their own to... More > shine in my work. In my work as a Vitki I have dedicated a lot of time, sweat and blood into the development of the pathworking system but now it has brought me to specifically Rune Magick. Beyond Prophecy has been written with two major concepts in mind. To allow Rune Magick to shine in its own light outside of everything else in the Norse/Viking system, and secondly to bring a worthier depth than only divination; which most writers only want to cover. It is my goal to see Rune Magick develop into more than just a way for practitioners to offer novelty readings but to turn such a valuable area of magick into a true art for all to potentially work with and harness.< Less
