"Using reflections is a way of adding meaning, creating a story, infusing the characters with life," she says. "I feel somehow that Recoleta Cemetery chose me, rather than the other way round." Each photograph is accompanied by a caption, adapted from her blog (www.julieannecosgrove.com), such as the one used to close the book: "Like the shadows and reflections that appear and shift and fade, we are here for a short while and then we are gone.
