More > bound register. Because members of the Corps typically accompanied many other regiments they suffered casualties world-wide in many actions, especially during the Crimean War. The register, from which this transcription was made, is available at the National Archives at Kew in class WO 25/2972. The entries are, however, in the sequence in which the casualties were notified to the regiment. This transcription in alphabetical sequence is offered to facilitiate more ready access to this data by family historians. There are some 1,297 casualties listed, and in 82 cases the soldier’s next of kin is given, typically giving both name and abode. Even more frequently it is noted whether a soldier’s effects were handed to a relative, often his widow.< Less
