Hémon died when he was struck by a train at Chapleau, Ontario. He never saw the widespread publication of his landmark novel. Since his death, Maria Chapdelaine has been translated into more than 20 languages in 23 countries, while other novels were published posthumously. Cela commença par la perte de sa petite sœur partie à l’âge de 14 ans du diabète en 1944. L’incarcération de sa mère pendant la guerre pour fait de résistance. La mort de son fiancé à l’âgé de 22 ans, alors qu’il tentait de s’évader en Allemagne, c’était lui aussi un résistant. La tuberculose de mon père en 1960 ou elle pria sainte RITA avec une telle dévotion qu’elle fut exhaussé et enfin la mort de mon frère à l’âge de 35 ans. Elle décéda à l’âge de 84 ans de la maladie de Alzheimer et partie avec une petite statuette de la Sainte pour l’éternité, celle qu’elle eu toute sa vie sur terre.
