Section One provides an overview of the Confederate government, from President Jefferson Davis on down, including photos of Davis’ family, and other people and scenes from that time. Section Two is divided into two parts, the war in Virginia, and the war in the West and South, going through the war’s beginning in 1861 to its end in 1865. Griffin’s book also provides ancestral accounts of Union Gen. William Sherman’s march through Georgia and the Carolinas. At the end of the book, Griffin has reprinted Gen. Robert E. Lee’s letter to Jefferson Davis explaining why he was forced to surrender the Army of Northern Virginia to the Union Army’s General Ulysses Grant.< Less
