In 1887 he married Alice Smuck, whose relatives had come to Canada from the USA after the American Revolution. Edward and Alice had five children in Ontario before moving out West to homestead in south eastern Saskatchewan in 1900. Another child was born while they farmed the homestead and raised a family. Three of the sons saw action overseas in WWI. After the war, the parents helped the sons start farming. Edward and Alice retired to a fruit farm in B.C. in 1920. They continued to help their family back in Saskatchewan during the depression and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1937. Edward passed away in 1944 (80 years), Alice died in 1947 (78 years), and both are buried at IOOF cemetery in Chilliwack, B.C..< Less
