Most of the poems I wrote before my eighteenth birthday. In my senior year approaching graduation, I decided that I wanted to take my body of work and get it published. Doing so,I found a publisher who introduced me to a company that helps artist publish their own work.Later, The Inspired Poet was composed and I found a way to share with people my most inner thoughts as a poet. In the future, I plan to continue writing poetry in hopes that I might get published in magazines and perhaps create more books that will contain my work.In the future I hope that I could be mentioned amongst other poets such Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, Nikki Giovanni, and other poets that have contributed to the beautiful world of poetry.< Less

More > be gently honest and respectful in my approach. I wanted to convey the raw emotions and sentiment of the heartbreak and the victories of all whose voices I had the privilege to channel. These poems chronicle a lifetime of experiences and progression from the naïve, wide-eyed adolescent growing up in the hard-knock life of Coney Island/Brooklyn New York that speak in “Just Say No” to the bewildered teenager searching for answers and guidance in "Nanna", to the self-assured, unapologetic man of "I Am" & "Nappy Crown". These poems were written with love, their sole purpose to give voice to those who have not been heard, understood or accepted. I hope this book will uplift and inspire all who read it to rise above mediocrity and to not settle for anything less than excellence.< Less
