This workbook was made for students who are preparing for Florida's Algebra End-of-Course exam, but all algebra students could find it to be useful. At end of course time, all Florida algebra... More > students take the Algebra EOC Test, which currently all students in Florida must pass in order to graduate. There are 4 lengthy items in this workbook. The first is a 7-page, 12-question decoder practice piece. Each of the 12 questions has an example companion problem designed to be used for analogy. The second is an 8-page, 15-question practice in the same decoder-with-examples-for-each-problem style. Following next are 2 'half practice tests'. These last 2 pieces are just regular EOC-like questions, and an answer key is included at the end of each. The first half is 4 pages with a total of 20 questions, and the second half is 4 pages with 15 questions total. The author has had significant measurable success using these 4 resources with respect to improving pass rates, and her colleagues have reported the same.< Less

Students love decoding secret messages and revealing pictures as they perform operations with signed numbers, add like terms, and perform distribution. The built-in feedback keeps them motivated as... More > they first master addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and various combinations with integers, and then later combine like terms and distribute. The four operations' rules become a breeze with three fun and easy-to-learn songs, including catchy "Minus, Minus Integers". The 20 puzzle sheets and three songs have been tested and approved with real students in real classrooms. Teachers love the immediate feedback the students get as well as the reduction in the grading overhead as the worksheets are self-checking. They are great for core classroom work, but are also wonderful for homework or supplemental assignments due to their highly supportive self-checking natures. (10 of the puzzles decode messages, and per students' and teachers' requests for more graphic-style decoders, 10 decode pictures!)< Less

To complete the first of these three self-checking decoder-style worksheets, students will identify the slope of a line and a particular point through which it passes when given the equation of the... More > line in point-slope form. On the next algebra worksheet students will write the equation of lines in point-slope form when given the slopes of the lines and a point that each one passes through. On the third worksheet students will change the form of given equations of lines in other forms such as in slope-intercept form and in general linear form to point-slope form. Students enjoy solving the puzzles and discovering the secret messages while they get instant feedback upon each problem.< Less

This is a collection of 20 math worksheets on trigonometry and logarithms. They provide instant feedback and fun to students because the answers correspond to letters or images that decode secret... More > messages and pictures. They are self-grading, which makes them ideal for customized treatment of learners. They are tested by multiple teachers, including the author and her colleagues.
If you liked the calculus decoder puzzles in "PUZZLE MATH: Mixed Derivatives", you'll love these. In "PUZZLE MATH: Trigonometry and Logarithms" students find trig functions' values, missing angles, create and use wave graphs and the unit circle, draw and use special triangles, use one trig equation to find others, use and convert between degrees and radians, learn and evaluate trig identities, find scales for similarity, learn log definitions, identify and use log properties, utilize the change of base formula for logs, find missing values in log equations, and more.< Less

In this free algebra decoder worksheet students solve 2-step equations and then match their answers to parts of a secret message. Students are reinforced by immediate feedback which is excellent for... More > both learning and motivation. If teachers require students to show work, they reduce much grading overhead, because a correctly decoded message with work shown indicates the student has performed the standard. Whether students are working with Core Curriculum State Standards also known as Core Standards or with an individual state or countries' standards, solving equations is definitely a required skill. Finally, students can be taught some of the fundamentals of equation-solving even ahead of the typical prerequisite of performing operations with negative numbers.< Less
